Speaker: Mark Gai
Mark Gai is a very well-known professional speaker who focuses on topics or strategies that vary from inspiring his audience, helping others find resiliency, becoming a leader, and how to keep going. He has had lots of public speaking experience within the last 6-7 years of his career as a writer, storyteller, improviser, and keynote speaker. Throughout his presentation, he highlights on what it takes for just about anyone to be an effective improviser.
Throughout the webinar, Mark provides three simple tips on how to become a successful improviser as a human being, professional speaker, or entrepreneur. That being so, he emphasizes on how one must be awake, one cannot be self-centered, and lastly one must have the ability to give back and help others. With that being said, Gai proceeds with a discussion about saying yes towards the outlook of life, opportunities, and challenges. Furthermore, he then starts a game with two participants to practice their improv skills. The game consisted of one individual starting of a story, however, the challenge was that they were only able to say one word at a time. In other words, one person says a single word to begin a story and the next person says another word, continuing back and forth. That being said, the intention is to develop a coherent story essentially one word at a time.
“Precision in language is power. It takes time. It takes dedication. It takes guidance. Making a lot of mistakes. It takes writing. It takes being present where you are to make sure that the ideas you have will be followed up with action.” – Mark Gai
